Named after cape Formentor on the Spanish island of Mallorca, the CUPRA Formentor shares it’s beautiful and wild attributes, creating the essence of the high-performance crossover’s character and personality.

“The CUPRA Formentor will expand the high-performance brand’s international presence and double its sales volumes,” said Wayne Griffiths, President of CUPRA and SEAT. “The Crossover SUV integrates the most advanced powertrain technologies to deliver an experience like no other; two plug-in hybrid versions prove electrification and performance are the perfect combination, while the VZ5 variant delivers the maximum expression of combustion performance.”

Ten powertrain options offer a range of abilities, delivering the perfect dynamics no matter who sits behind the steering wheel.

The Red Dot Award winning CUPRA Formentor looks to the future, revving up the shift to electrification by integrating two high-performance plug-in hybrids, harnessing the power of combustion and electricity with an output of 204PS or 245PS. Offering the performance CUPRA customers expect, but more in tune with a world focused on minimising its environmental impact.

The pinnacle of combustion performance is the VZ5, a limited-edition version of the Crossover SUV, with only 7,000 units being produced. Underneath the CUPRA Formentor VZ5’s body sits the iconic turbocharged five-cylinder TSI engine, matched to torque splitting dynamics.

The petrol unit mixes direct-injection and turbocharging to help it achieve its peak power output of 390PS from between 5,700rpm and 7,000rpm, while peak torque of 480Nm is available from 2,250rpm. It also delivers a rhythm and unique engine sound orchestrated by the quad copper exhaust pipes.

All the variants benefit from an advanced, tuneable chassis, progressive steering and DSG transmission technology, so no matter which powertrain customers choose, the core elements of dynamism, emotionality and performance are evident.

The advanced technologies are shrouded by an exterior design that combines the benefits of a hatchback with the qualities of an SUV; bringing together the all-terrain attributes of a SUV and the compactness and sportiness of a hatchback in a coupé form-factor.

And the CUPRA Formentor is ready for the connected world, integrating a 12’’ infotainment (standard for the VZ trim) – the largest infotainment screen ever offered on any model of the brand - and connectivity solutions to keep customers in touch, able to bring their digital lives with them into the vehicle.

And as the roads become busier, safety takes on an even more important role. The five-star Euro NCAP CUPRA Formentor’s range of driver assistance and safety systems means that the Crossover SUV provides one of the securest drives in the segment.
