• Following the incorporation of new driver Lucas di Grassi, the ABT CUPRA FE team is in Valencia gearing up for a new season
• The new season will kick off in Mexico on 13 January

The ABT CUPRA Formula E Team is warming up for the 2024 season after completing the pre-season tests in Valencia (24-27 Oct). With the first race set for Mexico on 13 January 2024, the team joined together to test drive on the Valencia circuit and focus on laying a strong foundation for the upcoming season.  

One of the highlights of the tests was Lucas di Grassi's first chance to get behind the wheel of the ABT CUPRA Formula E car in racing conditions. The Brazilian driver, who brings a wealth of experience to the team, is looking forward to contributing to helping ABT CUPRA FE achieve its goals in the 2024 season.

“It feels great to be in the ABT and CUPRA family. We’ve been on the same wavelength from the very first moment and have worked with concentration on and off the track. Of course, we still have a lot of work to do, but I’m sure we will travel to Mexico for the first race very well prepared.” said Lucas di Grassi.

The pre-season tests in Valencia have been useful in helping ABT CUPRA FE prepare for the 2024 racing calendar. The sessions allowed the team to join together after the break, providing valuable insights into the performance of their cars and giving drivers the first opportunity to experience first sensations on the track.

“The official pre-season tests are always something very special, because the tension rises and you already get into a bit of a competitive mood. We had the opportunity to try out a lot on the track, including the new race format. In addition, of course, we had many photo and media appointments – that was a lot of fun,”explained Nico Müller.

Getting ready for a new season

The tests in Valencia showed that the team, and the cars, are ready to compete next year. The cars have performed as expected, despite a pause in the sessions on Tuesday afternoon & Wednesday following a fire in one of the circuit’s garages, which briefly interrupted the practice sessions. As a result of this incident, Adrien Tambay, CUPRA ambassador, couldn’t take part in the rookie test practice as initially planned. 

On Thursday afternoon, sessions continued as normal, with team drivers Lucas di Grassi and Nico Müller completing various successful circuits.

The tests in Valencia mark the beginning of an intense preparation phase leading up to the season opener in Mexico.
