Disruptive, emotional, and expressive. With the CUPRA Tavascan, our team of designers has created a design language that is intended for the new generation of car lovers. Julio Lozano, Head of Exterior Design at CUPRA, explains how this challenging creation has led to new opportunities to show the world “who we are and how we want to be at CUPRA”.

“People are at the centre of our design, making it very expressive and emotional, with key elements that highlight this new language, such as the three-triangle eye signature in the headlamp, and the front, moulded to offer an eye-catching aesthetic, as well as maximum performance and aerodynamics”, explains the designer. These features, in addition to another of the pillars that define the CUPRA DNA, the progressive sculptural V-shaped bonnet design, enhanced by the illuminated CUPRA logo, “give the CUPRA Tavascan attitude and dynamism, emphasising its sportiness and the sensation of speed”.

The rear lighting reinforces the emotional design of the model. “We want the car to look alive. To do so, we have placed the logo in the centre of the coast-to-coast tail lamp. It’s the heart of the CUPRA Tavascan. When the car turns on, the light expands from the logo, extending towards the corners. It’s like blood being pumped by the heart, a metaphor of being alive”, describes Lozano. This lighting concept adds to the car’s rear proportions, enhancing the feeling of width and robustness, “by placing elements such as the vertical reflectors on the sides, we express the maximum visual width of the car”.

This new approach highlights the strong CUPRA identity, in which engineering and design go hand in hand to deliver a strong personality and optimise the output. “We’ve worked a lot and the outcome is amazing”, concludes the CUPRA Head of Exterior Design.
