CUPRA has renewed the agreement with its hometown’s football club  to extend an alliance that began in 2019 and is based on the values shared by both brands and a joint vision of the future. The commitment to young talent in all FC Barcelona’s professional teams connects with the rebellious essence of CUPRA, created for a new generation of car lovers ready for electric mobility.

"At CUPRA we share the values of FC Barcelona, the largest club in the world. Both brands face challenges with passion, we have a winning ambition and a global mission to inspire the world from Barcelona. Our shared commitment to the future and to new generations has created a unique connection that we are very pleased to continue. The renewal of our global alliance will allow us to continue challenging the status quo from the field and on the road, and reinforce our ambition to turn CUPRA into a truly global brand." explained Wayne Griffiths, CEO of CUPRA.

The President of del FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, added: “We are very happy to extend our agreement with CUPRA until 2029,  and to expand it to all our professional sports teams at FC Barcelona. Over recent years, Barça and CUPRA have formed an extraordinary team that is now being strengthened to face the future with a winning spirit. The world of sport and automobile share the challenge of always chasing the horizon in the search of success. With this challenge in mind, we are looking forward to continuing to work together for the next few years with a young, leading, global and committed brand like CUPRA.”

More than a partnership

With this new global alliance, CUPRA is renewing its role as Official Automotive and Mobility Partner and the Official Car of FC Barcelona. The brand also remains a Global Partner and will be present as one of the official sponsors in the Espai Barça, the transformation project of FC Barcelona’s facilities in the Les Corts neighbourhood in Barcelona and at the Estadi Johan Cruyff in the Joan Gamper Sports City in Sant Joan Despí.

The agreement expands the scope of sponsorship within the club's sports sections. In addition to maintaining its relationship with the first men's and women's football teams, CUPRA becomes the official sponsor of the FC Barcelona basketball, futsal, handball and roller hockey teams until June 2029.

To reinforce the global impact of the brand and the club, the CUPRA logo will be present on the right sleeve of the men's and women's soccer team shirt during the 2024, 2025 and 2026 editions of the Summer Tour, as well as in the team’s international friendlies for the next three seasons. With the aim of supporting CUPRA's global strategy and strengthening its commitment to talent, the company will be the main partner of the Barça Academy. This association will result in the presence of CUPRA in the name and branding of the facilities.

Inspiring the world from Barcelona

Attendees were welcomed by the CUPRA DarkRebel, the showcar that the brand presented at the IAA 2023 show in Munich, along with the CUPRA Raval and the CUPRA Tavascan. These electric models represent CUPRA's vision and future plans, which will feature these new heroes for a new era.

The renewal of this global partnership comes after a 2023 of record figures, with 230,700 vehicles delivered, 50.9% more than the previous year, and with more than 530,000 cars delivered since the launch of the brand in 2018. In addition, CUPRA has reinforced its position as one of the fastest growing automotive brands in Europe thanks to the solid results obtained in key markets.
