  • Historic 10-billion-euro investment to transform Spain into a European hub for electric mobility

Official statements from SEAT S.A. President Wayne Griffiths regarding the acceptance of the PERTE VEC resolution:

"Today is a historic day for all of us, as we take a strategic step: SEAT S.A., the Volkswagen Group, PowerCo and the Future: Fast Forward partners have accepted the PERTE VEC resolution and together we will invest 10 billion euros in Spain."

"This is a first step and now we will continue to look for solutions to develop our ambitious electrification plan:

  1. SEAT S.A. is leading, from Spain, the development of the vehicles based on the Small BEV platform for the Volkswagen Group. This project will democratise access to sustainable mobility in Europe with electric cars made in Spain.
  2. The Volkswagen Group will electrify the Martorell and Pamplona factories.
  3. And Spain will have its first battery plant in Sagunto (Valencia) through the PowerCo.”

"This industrial plan will boost the transformation of the Spanish automotive industry and will help create thousands of new jobs and maintain the country's competitiveness.”

"The acceptance of the PERTE by the Volkswagen Group and SEAT is a sign of our strong commitment to Spain and to Europe.”

"I would like to thank everyone who has made the success of this plan possible. Especially for the collaboration with the public administrations.”

"70 years ago, SEAT put Spain on wheels, now we will put Spain on electric wheels."
